Ingredients
Scale:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
2 large eggs
1/2 cup whole milk
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Powdered sugar for dusting
Granulated sugar and cinnamon for topping
Chocolate glaze for dipping
Sprinkles for decoration
Crushed nuts for added crunch
Toasted coconut flakes for flavor
Instructions
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon (if using).
In a separate bowl, mix the wet ingredients: eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until combined.
Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, mixing gently until just combined. Do not overmix.
If frying, heat oil in a deep pan or skillet to 350°F (175°C). If baking, preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
For fried donut holes: Drop balls of batter into the hot oil, frying in batches for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown.
For baked donut holes: Use a cookie scoop to drop dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Bake for 10-12 minutes.
Once cooked, remove the donut holes from the oil or oven and let them cool on a wire rack.
While still warm, roll the donut holes in powdered sugar or a mixture of granulated sugar and cinnamon.
Allow any glaze to set before serving and add toppings as desired.
